Housebound

Housebound.

Can you imagine it? Alone.

So glad when the carer comes. Someone to talk to.

Get dressed, fed, she leaves. Alone.

Judge Judy, make a snack, go online. Alone.

The phone pings. Conversation? Just a spam email. Alone.

Lunch, a sandwich, Judge Judy. Alone.

Nearly 5, the carer comes. Fed, she leaves. Alone.

Can’t go to bed it’s too early. When was the last time I spoke aloud?

Criminal Minds, hot chocolate. Alone.

Everyone is busy living. I’m just existing.

Finally nightfall. Go to bed. Sleep.

Tomorrow I’ll start another day. Alone.

Housebound.

Can you imagine it?
